Hardtop is a Barenbrugs top hard fescue variety for lower maintenance use in mixtures for golf and ornamental purposes. Hardtop has an outstanding ever green colour during winter for all climate zones in Europe! Both shade, low inputs, drought and (severe) coldness are no problem for Hardtop. Moreover, Hardtop proved to withstand a close mowing level of 5 mm very well, allowing to be used on golf greens as well…!

Partner varieties in mixtures
Hardtop has been extensively tested in private trials at STRI UK and Hohenheim University in Germany and during several small trials in other countries like Italy, France, Poland and Russia. All trials showed the signifi cant ornamental value of Hardtop in summer and winter. STRI in Bingley (UK) showed its extraordinary value on golf greens.
Best combinations were found with Festuca rubra spps. such as Barcrown, Viktorka and Barswing. Other combinations are with Festuca ovina tenuifolia (sheeps fescue) and Poa pratensis varieties.
