Packshot Barenbrug Topsilo

Premium silage for top-producing dairy cattle

Topsilo delivers maximum productivity and outstanding feed quality for high-yielding dairy cows. With Topsilo and only a minimal amount of concentrate, cows can produce over 30 litres of milk per day. The blend of late-heading perennial ryegrass and soft-leaved tall fescue ensures top-quality forage that meets the nutritional needs of the most productive dairy herds.

Easy ensiling thanks to high sugar content

Topsilo features late perennial ryegrass varieties known for rapid growth, rich sugar content, and high intestinally digestible protein. The sugar provides energy in the silage and plays a key role in efficient fermentation and long-term preservation. The added red and white clover boosts the protein content of the forage, enhancing the overall nutritional profile.

Significantly less mould

Topsilo’s high tolerance to crown rust results in reduced mycotoxin levels in the silage. Clean, mould-free silage is essential for maintaining optimal animal health and performance.

No room for weeds

The vigour and winter hardiness of tetraploid ryegrass varieties give weeds like couch grass and dandelions little to no chance. White clover improves sward density, which further reduces weed pressure and ensures a cleaner harvest.

A valuable crop rotation partner

Rotating maize with a four-year Topsilo ley enhances soil fertility and contributes to better maize yields in subsequent years. This rotation not only improves soil health but also supports sustainable forage production.
