Guaranteed success with Yellow Jacket Nitrogenerator®
The seeds in the Quartet clover mix are enhanced with Yellow Jacket Nitrogenerator® technology, providing a strong head start during germination. This coating is enriched with the appropriate rhizobium bacteria specifically suited to this clover variety, ensuring the maximum nitrogen fixation in your soil. This enhancement leads to higher crop yields and improved soil fertility. Additionally, the fine clover seeds are easier to sow thanks to the Yellow Jacket Nitrogenerator® coating, improving seed distribution efficiency.
Ideal for Grazing and Mowing
Quartet consists of a balanced mix of white clover varieties, including both cultivated and pasture-specific strains. Its robustness makes it highly suitable for both grazing and cutting systems, offering reliable performance across different management regimes.
Increased Nitrogen for Protein-Rich Grass
Quartet is specifically designed for permanent pastures, introducing persistent clovers that improve nitrogen availability and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers. White clover in the mix captures atmospheric nitrogen, fixing it into the soil. This additional nitrogen is then utilized by both the grass and clover, resulting in a high-protein forage crop. This system contributes to a healthier and more palatable pasture, while lowering nitrogen inputs, which has a favorable impact on environmental sustainability, particularly with regards to nutrient cycle management (Kringloopwijzer).
Excellent Persistence and Durability
White clover in this mix remains low-growing and produces dense, persistent tillers, ensuring excellent ground cover and resilience. Its standfast nature makes it particularly well-suited for intensive grazing systems.
| Sowing Recommendations | ||
|---|---|---|
| Sowing Rate | Sowing Window | |
| Sowing: | Incorporate 4-5 kg/ha of Quartet alongside 30-40 kg/ha of grass seed. Ensure thorough mixing for even distribution. | It is recommended to sow Quartet before September 15, giving the clover sufficient time to establish before winter. |
| Overseeding: | Use 7.5 kg/ha for overseeding applications. | |
Quartet includes the renowned white clover variety ‘Alice’ and can be easily mixed with Barenbrug’s grass seed blends, including the BG Superplus range, to optimize both nitrogen fixation and pasture productivity.
