Barvado combines an excellent turf quality with a superior tolerance to Brown Patch. Barvado was developed from plants that survived a brown patch (Rhizoctonia) epidemic. Barvado can further be characterized as a dark green variety being highly ranked in NTEP trials. It is a medium fine leaved variety with a semi dwarf growth habit. Thanks to endophytes Barvado shows an improved disease and insect resistance.

Barvado is a versatile Festuca arundinacea variety suitable for:

Partner varieties in mixtures
Barvado has been extensively tested in private trials at Barenbrug Research in the USA, Netherlands, France and Italy. For landscape, fairway and tee applications, Barvado mixes well with Poa pratensis and Lolium perenne species, and in warm dry areas preferably with drought-tolerant varieties such as Barimpala, Barblack and Pinnacle II. More continental areas are best covered with partners such as Bariris and Barminton or Barfriso.
